Janey Street, who was born and raised in New York City, has achieved much success as both a singer and a songwriter. As an artist, she’s recorded albums for Warner Brothers/Reprise, Capitol Records and Arista Records (under the guidance of legendary music mogul Clive Davis). Her single “Under the Clock” was a top 20 AC hit, and its accompanying music video received frequent airplay on VH-1, bringing a whole new audience to Janey. Her single “Say Hello To Ronnie” was also a Billboard charter, making the pop charts.
Street has also spent many years on the road. Street’s life has been filled with interviews and TV dates as well as live performances in venues ranging from 20,000 seats to small clubs through out the US and Canada.
Janey self-released her blues album “The Street Less Traveled” which was produced by Fred Mollin.High on the blues charts throughout the US, the CD features the cream of the crop players in Nashville.
Janey’s songs have been recorded by such artists as the famous blues singer Ruth Brown (on the GRAMMY-nominated CD “A Good Day For The Blues”), Janis Ian (a track Street produced and also co-wrote with Ian), Eric Anderson, Dutch artist Judith, Japanese artist Maria and others. Two of Street’s songs are featured motion picture “Food Fight“, an animated movie starring Charlie Sheen, Hilary Duff, and Eva Longoria. These songs will also appear on the film’s CD soundtrack.
Janey’s music has also been featured in TV shows such as “The Young & The Restless“, “One Life to Live”, “Rock & Roll Evening News”, “Street Shadows” and the films “Promised Land” (performed by James Newton Howard) and “White Winter Heat“.
Janey moved from NY to Hermosa Beach, CA in the 1980s and has since relocated to Nashville, where she has been very active in songwriting, collaborating with some of the industry’s top writers such as Gary Burr, Stephanie Bentley, Liz Rose, Sam Tate, Dave Berg, Janis Ian, Billy Lawson, to name a few. Street always continues to perform live.
In 2015 Street signed with Blue Élan Records and released her album “MY SIDE OF PARADISE.” The many reviews of the record have been filled with praise, enthusiasm and heartfelt appreciation for Street’s unique sound, well-crafted quality songs and great production. Janey has been asked to do a lot of interviews for major music publications. Being the communicator that Street is, the interviews have been well received. The record also received the LA Music Critic Awards for best 2016 Female CD, best female pop/rock artist and most deserving for the indie Hall Of Fame. The video of the song “I’m Not The Girl I Used To Know” hit big time on Social Media and TV stations across the country.
“ In My Own Skin” Street’s second release on Blue Élan Records has received great reviews and doing many interviews with publications such as the Huffington Post, Elmore Magazine, etc. Janey also was recently presented with the 2017 LA Music Critic Icon award and again won the LA Music Critic Award for 2017 best female CD and Best rock artist.
With all this, she is now taking her show on the road. Playing clubs, concerts, house concerts and conducting songwriting workshops around the country.
